What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly performed skin procedures in the world. If you're tired of shaving, tweezing or waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal is an option worth considering.

This hair reduction treatment works by delivering highly concentrated beams of light into the skin. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles which damages this structure resulting in a permanent reduction in hair growth. With a course of treatment clients can experience up to 90% reduction in hair growth resulting in slower, softer, finer and less dense hair growth.

Laser hair removal consultation

Before starting your laser hair removal journey, we will conduct a free consultation with one of our experienced and highly trained Consultants. During the consultation, the consultant will explain the process to you, decides which laser will be used on appropriate settings, answer any questions you have and carries out a patch test on each area.

The skin test will ensure you are suitable for laser hair removal (95% are eligible) as well as give you an idea of how the treatment will feel. The laser Consultant will then advise you on the best course of treatments to achieve your goal; The recommendation is a minimum of 6-8 usually. Our FAQs section below covers many of the aspects covered in the consultation. Following the consultation, if you choose to go ahead, you can start the treatment from as early as 48 hours later.

Following a laser hair removal treatment

The skin may be red immediately after the treatment, and the hair follicles where the skin has been treated may be raised and bumpy, this usually subsides within a few hours but can take up to 48 hours for some clients. A very few people experience itching a few days later as the hair is pushed out.

Following a laser hair removal treatment, the hair growth slows considerably. It usually takes 2-3 weeks at which point the dead hair will fall out. New hair follicles will then grow, which are usually less coarse. After the second laser treatment, depending on skin and hair type, the area can already begin to look patchy as certain hair follicles stop producing new hairs. After 4-6 treatments, the hair should be significantly reduced, and after 8 sessions, we can achieve up to 90% reduction.

The main benefits of laser hair removal

Laser hair removal is the most effective method for achieving permanent reduction. After 6-8 sessions, you can achieve up to 90% reduction. Compare this to a lifetime of shaving or waxing laser hair removal is an investment and more economical in the long run.

The laser is also extremely effective at treating ingrown hairs. After 2-4 sessions you will notice a significant if not complete removal of ingrown hairs. The bumps, redness and skin pigmentation caused by ingrown will also clear up as leaving the skin healthier and smoother.

Why wait up to 12 weeks to see results? After your Fat Freezing procedure, the body naturally disposes of the unwanted dead fat cells. This takes time as your body is busy processing and breaking down the fat cells through a procedure called Apoptosis - through which enzymes break down the cells into smaller pieces to allow for your white blood cells (macrophages) to remove them from your body permanently and this is why your body needs the time to adjust and reline the fat cells and contour your shape.

Is Fat Freezing permanent?Yes, Fat Freezing is a permanent solution to get rid of stubborn fat cells. The fat cells are crystalised and frozen through Fat Freeing treatment, they are destroyed naturally and gone forever! Any remaining fat cells can still enlarge over time if weight is put on in the future and can therefore affect results, but typically if you regain the same weight and BMI (Body Mass Index) as treated your results will be visible.
-
What results can I expect from Fat Freezing? An average of about 25% fat reduction is seen per treatment, and more than one treatment is recommended to see optimum results. The final results are fully visible within 6-12 weeks, as the body uses this time to flush away the dead fat cells. These results are permanent as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
